Some really nice thoughts and comments/links.
- BPM bridged the gap between the business and IT. It provided a common platform for business and IT to build, change and improvize based on feedback.
- Business and IT should go hand-in-hand.
- Moreover, it is also the difference in thoughts of the two groups and debate that helps us to identify the loop-holes and make a better systems.
It can be argued that self-service BPM is the reality where business user just makes some drag drop and configuration changes to create a system/application. The business need not depend on IT for any changes.
This may be the ideal scenario – but lets be realistic and ask the same question to ourselves based on our experience – Is it possible to have a complete self service BPM driven by business ? May be NOT
It can be better visualized as a Managed Self Service, where the IT Team does the initial ground work, design, implementation, setup and governance and hands over the system to the Business to take it from there!!
This is how I see Business & IT ( with BPM bridging the gap )
Whats your take ?? – Is it Time to take IT from BPM ?
Happy Reading!! 🙂
